What is Elevate?

Ubuntu Elevate is a culturally grounded, play-based mentorship program designed for Black boys in Grades 3–8. Through basketball, guided mentorship, and structured life-skills sessions, participants build confidence, resilience, leadership, and a sense of belonging.

Rooted in the African philosophy of Ubuntu“I am because we are” — the program emphasizes community, accountability, and personal growth.

How Ubuntu Elevate Works

Sessions combine structured basketball training with mentorship circles, leadership discussions, and guided reflection. Youth are supported by caring mentors who model positive behaviour, discipline, and community values.

The program meets twice per week and creates consistency, routine, and meaningful connection.

Many Black boys face barriers that limit access to positive mentorship and culturally affirming spaces. Ubuntu Elevate creates an environment where youth feel seen, supported, and challenged to grow — not just as athletes, but as leaders and community members.
